Of
the many things that the American Red Cross does, educating the
public is one of its most visible services. Our goal is to
increase public awareness by educating the community in order to
help people prevent, prepare for, and cope with disasters and
other emergencies.
The
holidays are here. Families will be gathering. Some have not seen
each other for a long time and will be catching up on visiting.
Remember to designate a specific person, a buddy, to watch young
children during family gatherings. The seasonal streams and ponds
are filling now. A designated buddy can keep small children safe
around water and other hazards, in shopping malls, amusement parks,
and the out of doors.
